For people who have already taken Loren I or have extensive flameworking experience. The techniques covered are similar to the Loren I class but at a more difficult level. The Murrini portion of the class will concentrate on creating repetitive patterns which will be used to construct botanicals such as flowers, petals, leaves and berries. The first several days will focus on constructing, shaping, pulling the murrine components. After all components are ready, the final murinni will be assembled and pulled. Sculpting the flowers, petals and leaves for the paperweight set up will be covered. The next stage is cold working the murinni into polished slices to prepare for a paperweight. Murrini cold working techniques include sawing and polishing murrini chips to be included in the paperweight. Encasement involves Schott crystal and several layers within the paperweight over the floral setup. Vacuum encasement technique using the stump sucker designed by Loren will be included along with proper use of stump shaper tools. All levels of experience welcome. This workshop is designed for the soft glass or borosilicate student. Keep in mind that if you are working with borosilicate glass will be a slower process.
